Given how horrifically wasteful we are, I don't know that I even like the idea of having Earth's water used for energy. This doctor thinks he'll raise the standard of living of the poor, but I'm pretty sure that the corporations would just put a price on the water and the poor would simply die of thirst (Bechtel and Nestle have already tried, but since SUVs don't run on water, it wasn't worth the bad PR that millions of dead people tends to generate).
No, I don't think I could live with myself if I knew that every time I turned on a light, it meant that somewhere in this world, some mother was trying to force her child to drink what was left of her urine in a futile attempt to keep that baby from dying of thirst. Every time I started my car, it meant that there were corpses being ravenously cut open for whatever liquid blood could be pilfered from them. I just wouldn't be able to do it. It's bad enough that when I do those things now, I know my government is on the other side of the planet murdering people for the oil it requires.
We don't even have enough clean water on this planet for all of us to *drink*, and that causes suffering well enough. I can't imagine the nightmare of human misery that would be created by water suddenly becoming profitable on the energy market.
if you read more on nuclear fusion it already exists the problem at the moment is that they just cant keep the reaction going for to long. and for the person who said they'll make money off of it, its still better for the earth and every one in general
